Dark/Evil/Alt. Kite cosplay!

Post by thedudewhosadude »

Alright forum, let's see what you can do! After watching the trailer for .hack//G.U. several times over, I decided to switch my cosplay, yet again....With less than a month, I've got a create an alt/evil/dark Kite. Even though I've finished Kaze, I feel so strongly about this character that I've decided to change...again...from the mohawk'd hero. Anyway! After looking over the few pics that I have of him, I've run into some jams.

1stly: His blades. I'll be doing them when they're open, as seen on the .hack//G.U. main page. What should I make them out of? They have to be sturdy, yet not too heavy.

2ndly: His hat. It's poofy, but not as poofy as Hotaru's. Any ideas?

3rdly: His backside. There isn't much I can do about this, since there isn't that much material (one trailer) available. However, if anyone happens to run across some images of alt. Kite's back, let me know, okay?

4thly: The under-shirt. Any idea as to what it is? I'm talking about what he's wearing under his tattered orange garb.

5thly: His hair. How should I go about it? I can't use my own hair, as right now its a mohawk. I can't comission one now; its too late. Any ideas?

Thanks all! I'll be wearing this costume to Anime Next and Otakon this year!

Do you have a metalworker near where you live? >_>

Oh, and blood stains on the blade. Definitely the blood stains.

Meultima: As a matter of fact, it turns out my neighbor works as one XD. Amazing that I didn't know!

End of a Shadow: Thank you! That image is surprisingly helpful; it shows the main colors and parts 'nd stuffs!

Thanks for the help so far guys! I'm fairly certain that his crotch-area's a purple, right? And I think I'm going to keep his shoes black. Wow, who'd think that a chibi-image would be more helpful than the image its based on XD.

Dunno about the chibi image being helpful, it's missing quite a few of the belts and stuff...

Speaking of which, where you gonna get that many small belts? ^_^;

Some female belts are pretty small.. I'm sure he could find some that may fit the height; otherwise, he'll have to edit some regular ones, or make his own.

Oh trust me, I stop by there enough  Spencers is also a big help. And the main help of the chibi image was basically for the colors....they somehow were harder to see on the main image.

Well, you could turn his poofy hat into a poofy hat and wig, so that as long as it's on your head, that's not a problem... but that's not easy to do...

Hm....I think I'll do that...that's much easier than getting a full wig, spiking out the hair properly, and making sure that the hat fits on top.

What event are you doing this cosplay for, by the way?

Also, sewing the strips of metal onto the fabric shouldn't be that bad, if you do it by hand...and those can look enough like staples to get away with it...

So then I may see you at Otakon 2K5... (I'll be the Shiki Tohno (from Shingetsutan Tsukhime) cosplayer)

I think the boots shouldn't be that hard though...

Update!

I now have all the material (minus red pants) needed to start! Why do I need red pants? I'm using them as a base, and sewing on the rest of the colors, somewhat like patches. These are the colors I bought:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v418/ ... ay2901.jpg

Because my digi-cam is ancient, the colors didn't come out properly in this pic..oh, and the things on the bottom are this fake-leather kinda material that I found...I'll be cutting them into belts and straps. As for the thick "stitches/staples" in Kite's costume...I bought a heavy thread that has a metallic color, and I'm deciding to manually stitch rows into the costume, making a staple/stitch effect.

I resolved the hat problem (I'll just stuff it [but not too much!] with this stuff that's similar to cotton) but I ran into another: Kite's rings. Now what I mean by that are the rings at the end of his gloves and right before his boots. What should I do for these?

I wish I had my own digicam... *Sigh*

Regardless, it just looks darker, but the colours don't seem all that bad.

Strange idea: If you can colour your mohawk green, maybe you could trim it off and paste it around the edges of the hat...eh.

I need to get more sleep.
