Help Please
can someone help me out, i want to post some wallpapers i made but i cant figure out what kinda URL i need to make, Balmung told me i needed to put my pic on a site first but it wouldnt work, how do i post an image right in the topic??
You can do that on two ways.
1) A direct link to the picture
1) A direct link to the picture
- Upload the picture to a webserver. the picture will have an own URL. for example. "Http://www.myhost.com/myaccount/mypicture.jpg (it also can be a gif or Bmp)
- Then, get into the BBS , and write a new Topic/reply... whatever. Enter the the EXACT adress of the picture between two Tags. for example
Code: Select all

- The picture will appear here. But if it is a large picture, it will be a bit annoying, first to load it (it takes long) and second, that it Moves the BBS Border, if it's larger than it.
- Upload the picture again, to a Webserver.
- get the exact adress of the picture
- Get into the BBS and goto "Post a reply" or "New Topic" or whatever.
- Enter
Code: Select all
Http://www.host.domain/youraccount/yourpicture.jpg
- Now the picture will appear as a normal link to the others, like for example like that - http://blackwings.net/hack/images/wall08-1024.jpg
- There's also the possibility to Change this Link just to the Word you like. For example then it appears like this here(click)
Code: Select all
Cool Wallpaper here!

Any 'free' host you use will more than likely not support direct linking. You can get around this with a couple of sites by typing the link as a .txt file rather than a .gif or .jpg file. It tricks it into thinking it's just text instead of a picture that's being linked. But all free sites have popups now. Its pretty much a given. Geocities can be tricked with the .txt trick. You can also get webspace at www.8m.com, but beware, tons of popups. @_@

Ok, first... get a picture you want. Rename the file's extention from .jpg or .gif to .txt. After you do that, upload it to Geocities. Then, when you go post a link on the board, type <img src="http://www.geocities.com/yourusernamehe ... rename.txt">
Actually... as I see that the board doesn't accept html, use the img button on the board, but just make sure that your link is listed as a .txt file. It works either way, with html or not.
It will appear as an image, because of the <img> tags telling the browser to see it that way, but geocities thinks its a text file.

o_O I don't know how you're uploading it, but the file type shouldn't matter during upload. Unless of course you're telling it you're uploading a picture, and -then- clicking on the txt file. Or if you upload a picture, then you could go to geocities' file manager and just tell them to rename the file as a .txt. But anyways, yeah, if those other sites work instead, just go for that. ^^; Sorry I couldn't help.
