who is better for Mai?

who do you think is the better man for Mai? Tomonari or Makino? i say Makino mostly becouse he is kinda like a 'guardian" for her if she gets in trouble you beter bet Makino will be there by her side helping her out hes also sort of like a older brother caring for her safety and well being

Makino and Mai seem more like "buddy buddy friends" than close friends... IMO, big-brother types aren't good boyfriends. *shrug* Tomonari has the affection for her.

but in the first ova it seemed like makino really cared for Mai

I say Tomonari becouse makino only was caring for Mai becouse his younger sister was wondering why Mai was acting so wierd if i recall correctly

Tomonari; it's awkward when you go out with one of your best friends

Also, it's the obvious love triangle that was set up that really shows that Tomonari is the likely choice...that is, if this triangle were to follow the previous triangles of general romance, where the gal falls for the guy that really isn't right for her, and does a good job of ignoring the guy that really cares for her, and makes a point of making run-un sentences (ugh) .
