I did my avatar with the Windows version of GIMP-http://www2.arnes.si/~sopjsimo/gimp/. I got a Tsukasa pic from Nebu's imaga gallery (thanks, Nebu!) and used GIMP to crop out the parts I did not want and reduce the picture size and # of colors. A tip: When you use the crop tool in GIMP, you select the part of the picture you want to keep, not the part you want to crop out. Found that out myself the hard way.
