not exactly true most of the really loyal (I mean the kind of people who watch the matrix and believe that they are in the Matrix) bought the japanese so that they can just say they have it in both versions if it came to English. then there is all of us who would get it and read it multiply times for pure enjoyment and to learn even more of the story.so what mabey 300 copies.Elk wrote:Exactly; it's too much work for something that might not even make any money.mvrckbass wrote:kinda like a giant translating group in japanese having a chance to translate "War and Peace"

I shall name him squishy and he shall be mine, and he shall be my squishy.
....But .hack isn't some big popular movie fad; so, I stick with the point that it's a big chance that they wont translate the novels.Sepherioth wrote: not exactly true most of the really loyal (I mean the kind of people who watch the matrix and believe that they are in the Matrix) bought the japanese so that they can just say they have it in both versions if it came to English. then there is all of us who would get it and read it multiply times for pure enjoyment and to learn even more of the story.so what mabey 300 copies.
I cast FAIL on those who mock my old signature.

That's why its not so popular. People these days don't care if something makes you think or not; they are only interested in stuff that has people suffering, violence, and R-rated content. It's sad how today's society is to lazy to think...En der wrote:True, because it's unpopular; the series makes you think a lot, lol

The US market mainly wants action and hi quality pics, meanwhile, the japanese market favors storyline over mostly everything else, making .hack much bigger there than in US.
Xenogears was a big hit in US not because of the story, but because of the robots ^^;; it works the other way round in Japan, IMO

Pagyuu~ desunoh?
Not always. I read magazine reviews myself, storyline plays a factor in a good review, but aren't always a key factor in the review. Heck you can have games that are too bombared with storyline and suffer because of it in the review.En der wrote:However, video game magazines rate games through storylines; if there isn't a gripping story, then it's garbage (i.e. GameInformer mag)

games alone u can understand some of the story line. a virus happens in a VR game and u are able to stop it, but the virus and the sys admins want u gone.
its a game with a "expanded" storyline, but what most people like about it, is that u can do what ever when ever....
the most complaints i hear in Xenosaga is that its considered a movie more than a game ( over 30+ hours of cut scenes)
which is why most people think .hack is a good game, but consider graphics, and RPG battles a minor Con

exactly, this reviewer guy seems like an idiot, .hack and Xenosaga are a few of those games that are dependant on the storyline to make it shine, i mean, come on, do you wanna play the .hack games without a plot? PFFT! NO! XD *chibifies the reviewer dude and throws him into the Abyss of Chibi Haters and Abusers dedicated to the DEATH and EXPLICT BLOODSHED of Chibis! (owned by my brother ^_^)*
ya but another thing most ppl don't relize is it only takes time where sales arn't up to bank rupt a company. because some ppl just figure that last time what they were selling was bad so it might be bad this time so why waste the money. so for some high ranking companies the risks are too high. they would rather stay in business then lose it all. at least thats what i think i could be wrong.
life gets hard but never turn away from it. it can get better or worse but it will always change just stick with it and be your self no matter what!!
