Well, it may affect a person's view of things (personal decision), but little more. The boundary is a one way type of thing (like the freaks who hacked Phantasy Star Online for the Dreamcast once.)

Twilight was the time period during the games when players started going into Coma's... not a "boundary." That boundary is Liminality.

I have a theory about that, based on Rhyste's comment, & something Tsukasa said several months ago, way back when I saw my first episode of .hack//SIGN. Because I'm refering to a later .hack//SIGN episode, my theory might be a
Perhaps, the Key of the Twilight is something in the code of The World, that uploads people's minds/souls digitally, making The World essentially a real place. What that means is, Harold Hyuek might have uploaded himself to the game, and gotten a bit scrambled. A bit like that one episode of Cowboy Bebop with the guy in the coma and the video game headset.. >.>;;
Umm, Ruby Red Rose, his name is Harold Hyuek, I think. Well that theory seems kinda like digimon, where ppl got trapped in the digital world and stuff.

What makes The World a "real place" is the will to want to be their. "Liminality."

I knew that. I did. Guess I should stop posting when I'm that tired, I guess. Thanks RayJNT. :)

I guess it might be a bit like digimon, but I always was under the impression that the digital world (sorry, I've only seen the dubbs, so I could be wrong there...) was an already existing world.

Anyway, the way I see it, perhaps Harold, based off of Emma's work (the Epitaph of Twilight, anyone? Then again, that's probably something already being discussed on the spoiler board, so nevermind.) created the world to be something other than the MMORPG that it is. Kind of a Frankenstein, I-shall-do-the-work-of-God type thing. ::shrugs::

While Harold did base it off of Emma's work...
He edited parts in and out. Niu and I discovered this while trying to analyze the Epitaph posted on the CC2 website. The one on the CC2 website is the original, the fragments of the Epitaph found in-game are Harold's edits of Emma's work.
 oOo, thanx Rhyste,
I didn't know Harold edited the Epitaph. Guess that explains why in Harold's version it has different stuff. *bonx himself for being stupid*

There are a lot of spoilers here, Aren't there?
New theory, all! The key is just a hacking program (whoo, where'd that come from? )

If it is a hacking program, why don't the actual hackers on the game have, or know much about it?

Everybody seems to have their own opinion...so I'll present mine...following in the path of all the Spoiler post of course...
Perhaps the key is actually a key to allow the "The Twilight of the New Gods," "Deadly Flash,"and " Pluto Kiss" viruses resurface on the Altimit OS.
So you see, It may not neccessarily be a good thing.

My latest theory concerns song lyrics! in the song that bears the name of the subject of this thread, a line says

"the key to open the door is in your hand"
(trust me, I have the OST.)

Could this, in fact, mean that the key could be Tsukasa's staff?

No. Tsukasa's Staff is a normal item in The World. Other players can have that staff, too.

I think we've mostly determined that the Key of the Twilight is something intangible...

I've a background character that reoccurs in UdeDen with a staff that looks almost identical to it.
