Here is my personal faq I started on all the secret stuff you can unlock in .hack vol. 1 and 2. Plz post andy and all suggestions, since this will be THE FAQ for secrets on this board, k? BTW any1 can use it on their site, just remember to credit me, good ol RayJNT.

Ryu Books
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Ryu books are key items that are unlocked every ten times you use Data Drain. These total up to 8 volumes, each one holding information on different player statistics. If completed some of the requirements below, the Ryu books will unlock stuff like wallpapers, new background themes and movies. NOTE: the unlockables listed are for both Infection and Mutation.

Spring of Myst


When you throw in a weapon or armor into the spring of myst , the spirit that inhabits the spring will emerge and ask if you dropped
a Silver Axe or a Golden Axe. If you choose
neither, he will get confused and say "Maybe this is it..." He will now return
your item with either an upgrade or downgrade, depending on your field’s
weather, time of day, and other factors.

NOTE:
If you give either spirit an item that is too high of a level for them to
change, they will tell you that they can't deal with an item this powerful
and give it back to you along with a Golden Axe and a Silver Axe.

After whatever outcome occurs, the spirit will bid you farewell and fly away...

The Grunty Farm

Once you've made your way to the Theta server, you will be able to raise
Grunties .

When you want to raise a Grunty, go to the bottom of the map in the Theta
server root town, and talk to the man at the Grunty Farm. He will describe
how to raise a Grunty, which is actually very simple. Use the various foods
that you've found on fields and in dungeons to feed the baby Grunty. Depending on
what foods you feed it, the Grunty can have various forms when it grows up.

When you raise your first Grunty, he will give you an item called the "Grunty
Flute". The Grunty Flute allows you to summon your Grunty on a field and ride
it around, safe from combat.

Noble Grunty
------------
Feed the Baby Grunty 15 Golden Eggs (Theta) or 20 Golden Eggs (Lambda), mon ami!

Feed the Baby Grunty 4 Piney Apples, 3 Snakey Cactus, and 12 Golden Eggs

-Poison Grunty

Feed the Baby Grunty 4 Piney Apples, 3 Snakey Cactus, 1 Immature Egg, and
12 or 11 Golden Eggs.

-Bony Grunty

Feed the Baby Grunty 3 piney apples, 4 snakey cactus, 1 immature egg and 12 to 14 Golden Eggs.

-Snakey Grunty

Feed the Grunty 5 Grunt Mints, 5 La Pumpkins, 5 Mandragoras, 4 White Cherries,
2 Oh No Melons and 10 Golden Eggs

-The Zeit Statue [//INFECTION Sidequest]

Early in the game, a message appears challenging you to beat the record in
a race to the bottom of any dungeon who's field keyword begins in Chronicling.
The least time record is held by Balmung (of course) with 2:11. Go to Delta: Chronicling Pagan Sunny Demon. This is a very low level
dungeon, with few necessary battles. Use a Speed Charm and some Fairy Orbs to
make your way to the bottom of the dungeon. If you beat the first place score,
you'll get the whole set of Time Armor.

After you complete the game, Martina posts frightened because you've taken down the other goblins.

She will use a
regeneration spell and take off. Use a speed charm and ready your skills. Just deliver an onslaught of skills, and don't give her time to heal.

After defeating all goblins, you can equip all the goblin gear you have
recieved and you will gain the skill "Summon Goblin" that does around
1500-2000 damage.

-Rare Weapons

If you Data Drain monsters, you can either get Virus Cores or weapons/armor. Most high level monsters have very rare weapons and strong armor. Most of these monsters are above level 45; be careful when fighting them. If you do not receive the item, keep Data Draining that monster. However, do not Data Drain too much where you are in danger of system crashing.

Harpy Queen: Great Elite (Wavemaster), Jishuwen (Long Arm)

Angolmere: Crimson Raid (Twin Blade)

-DVD secrets

Vol. I:


The OVA that comes with the game has hidden keywords to help you. The only one that has relevance is "Chosen Hopeless Nothingness", which is where you fight the final Boss. If you turn on subtitles, you will find keywords throughout the DVD. Some include "Luscious Her Remnant", "Hideous Organ market Scaffold, and "Dog Dancing Passionate Tri Pansy". None of them are that special, but in "Delta: Hideous Organ Market Scaffold", if you reach the statue of Gott at the end of the dungeon you will get an Ice Bar that is used for trading in the second game.

Also if you select the "Data" option at the main menu. Highlight the "Main Menu" option, then press Right, Left to view the .hack universe Timeline gallery.

Vol. II:

There are some really nice bonus featurettes on the second DVD. So far this is the only keyword in the DVD, which appears when a barrage of webpages fills the screen.

Capricious Unending Corridor

Here contributors have found the great rare item... Chinese Food... as well as
the rare twin blade "Gemini Soul"... But why Chinese Food?

A player in town named Annri will take the Chinese Food in exchange for her
rare spear "Super Wufei".

-20 to Physical and Magical attack
+30 to Physical and Magical accuracy
Also gives you Saber Dance and Ap Do

Also, the Ice Bar from .hack//INFECTION's DVD Keywords is now desired by
Panta. Track him down to trade your Ice Bar for his Lv. 38 Rare Key Axe!

BTW if you highlight the Character drawings list in the DATA section of the DVD, press right and then enter for some mysteries concerning project .hack (I'll post these in the Serious Discussion forum later, k?) Whew, that was alot of work. [/exhausted]

Right now though I'm going through INFECTION again and writing a bunch of stuff down so I can start up on my own INFECTION and MUTATION compendium [ hopefully I will scale it down so it won't be the same undertaking as my Xenosaga one which I gave up on... ]
