Ok, I'm back from camp, so here I am! ^^;
Anyway, a scientist came into the camp and talked about how sounds could break glass bla bla bla, but then he said something that intrested me... "There are certin tones and freqenceys that can cause a person to throw up / faint" I just thought .hack was making this stuff up =P
*thinks evily* *carrys around a CD player, and whenever someone upsets him, BAMB they get sick and faint >=)*
Is there anyway I can get some information on this?
And is it even possable to replicate on your computer?

I know that the note can't break glass, but theres another note that can, but thats not what im asking, what I am asking is is it possable to truely replicate the coma / sick sound (and have it actually work)

Well, any sound can really break glass, it just has to be close and loud enough. The note from .hack//Liminality is the note 'A'. (I'm now tuned to that; I can only tune things from A
) I remember asking the same question as you, just a long time ago. Here's the link to the thread I made: http://dothack.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=708

You're only young once, but you're NEVER too old to be immature.
The sound shows up whenever an AI like Morganna or Aura is present.
I don't think that it is the tone that causes the player to go into a coma. If you remember in the first or second game there are some players talking on the BBS about how they heard the tone and then their computers all flipped out and crashed. But the players weren't affected. In .hack//SIGN the tone plays several times in the upside down dungeon episode. But Mimiru, Bear, Bt, Sora, and Crim are not affected at all.
Personally I think that it is a combination of flashing lights that causes people to fall into comas. It probabally happens so fast that you don't even notice and just keep playing the game, like Mai did in episode 1 of //LIMINALITY, then eventually you're comatose.
But, the scientist guy you spoke of was correct. Sound can have a strange effect on certain object and certain sound waves can cause you to become sick. Currently under development is a new Less than Lethal weapon that uses sounds waves for this exact purpose. Its a gun basically, you point it at someone and shoot and then stand back. So who knows, maybe sound can cause you to fall into a coma. I just haven't seen enough proof to verify this theory yet.

good point Xeno, like, maybe since Mai could hear the tone, it saved her from the coma, but she didn't notice the lights, so she went into a temporary coma, maybe the people who's computers crashed either noticed the lights or something, or they werent wearing they're goggles when it happened. and Xeno, I agree with Flame, do you have an article we can read or something?
Rectos Dominos
well, I remember seeing the device being tested on a documentary I watched on the History Channel about Less-than-Lethal devices. These were all I could dig up, the first talks about acoustic weapons being used to inflict pain, while the second says they can be used to inflict pain and disorient. Its says they can be mounted to the bottom of an M16 or M4 like the M203 grenade launcher.

Light devices are also being used for the same purpose. However, the concentration of light and the speed of the flashing isn't enough to induce comas in most people. It just causes them to become disoriented.
Anyway, like I said, I'm not saying sound waves couldn't be used to induce a comatose state in a person. I just haven't seen enough evidence to prove that theory.
