Area Word

Area Word is a combination of 3 words and phrases that create a field or dungeon for you to visit from the Chaos Gate.

The World

The Field is generally a large, open world area that corresponds to Six Elements: Fire, Water, Wood, Thunder, Earth, and Darkness. Each element will change the ecology of the overworld (i.e. a Wood area opens to a grassland; Water fields open to a tundra). Area Words in The World edits the fields and dungeons one may explore, changing field elements, dungeon floors, Spring of Myst, Magic Portals, Gruntie Food, among others.

The World R:2

The World R:2 in .Hack//G.U.is a entirely new "game" made after the Twilight crisis in the first The World. Fields are only one of three types and contain varying weather. Unlike the open-worldness of the original World, these are more of a Room-like maps, containing missions or quests. They also contain things like a Mecha Grunty, Lucky Animal, and occasionally a Unlucky Animal. Idle players may find themselves attacked bt a Doppelganger, and PvP battles are common, especially in areas ending with "Berserker." In-universe, it is believed that the number of areas in The World R:2 is infinite, or at least very close to.

.Hack//G.U. Vol. 1: Rebirth has 61 words in group A, 47 Words in Group B, and 67 words in Group C, leading to a combination of 192,089 areas to explore within the game. There are also two servers, Delta and Omega, but Omega is not a server using area words, instead being a Arena for PvP combat
