.hack//Chat (.hack//チャット) was an online chat game set in a .hack-themed "cyber world" hosted by VaSaRa. It ran from 28 May 2004[1] to 30 April 2008.

About

Using the MetagateX plug-in, users could chat in real-time using 64-bit avatars without having to download dedicated software, instead the chat game could be accessed through an Internet browser. of which they could choose from a selection of pre-made avatars based on .hack, or upload user-made avatars. Users each could have their own dedicated room, which could be visited by other users with whom they had shared their member addresses (and vice-versa.) Occasional Events and Dungeons were available, and some holidays featured seasonal changes to the graphics of the game.

Initially the game was based on The World R:1, but eventually it was switched to The World R:2.
