Usage

This template accepts the platform(s) as parameters to better categorize the tagged image. <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" style="font-size: normal">Template:Imbox</syntaxhighlight> or <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" style="font-size: normal">Template:Imbox</syntaxhighlight> or just <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" style="font-size: normal">Template:Imbox</syntaxhighlight> if the platform is unknown. (For the platform names you can use, see the subcategories of Category:Screenshots of video games.)

If arcade is used as a parameter, it must be in the first position, e.g. <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" style="font-size: normal">Template:Imbox</syntaxhighlight>

Maintenance

If categories are merged or renamed, add a switch line into the sub-page Template:Non-free video game screenshot/platform, e.g. <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" style="font-size: normal"> | Microsoft Windows = Windows</syntaxhighlight>
