Biography
Koichi Mashimo: Director of Animation, ".hack"[2]
Mashimo is the challenge-driven creator of such notable hits as the story-oriented, "Robin Hood Adventures (TV series)," "PopoloCrois (TV series)," and the action-oriented, "Irresponsible Captain Tyler." Mashimo is renowned for his revolutionary work on "EAT-MAN" and "NOIR," both featuring hip, cutting-edge graphic sequences.
"For the .hack project it was our goal to create a "world" that goes beyond imagination.
But there were many elements that were intertwined, making this faux "world" difficult to convey to the audience. For example, it was necessary to introduce a multi-dimensional world, the psyche of the characters within that world, the effects of intervention brought upon by exterior forces, and the ever, indefinite line between imagination and reality-all within the surreal world that is presented in .hack.
Backed by this concept, the characters that reside in the world of ".hack" take on a life of their own. And this is precisely what makes it so interesting."
