.hackey ("dot hack key") was a Japanese monthly newsletter distributed to participating bookstores as a promotional campaign. The slogan for this publication was "Monthly Information Magazine for ".hackers." There were three eras of .hackey releases in conjunction with the major game releases for each "season" of .hack; one for the Games Tetralogy (Season 1), one for the G.U. Games (Season 2), and one for .hack//Link (Season 3).
About
Despite the label of "magazine" each issue consists of only 2-4 pages, and could also be described as "pamphlets." Almost all issues were duplex printed in full color on single sheets of glossy paper, which were folded to the A4 paper size, with 4 "pages" of content. The GIFT Special Edition was an exception, as it consists of a single duplex printed A4-size paper to form 2 pages of content.
Stamp Campaign
During the Games Tetralogy era, there was a campaign for fans who collected stamps when they acquired the different issues of .hackey from participating storefronts. Fans could use a filled stamp card to earn special merchandise.
