Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, Director of Character Design, ".hack"[1]
Sadamoto has served as Character Designer and Director of Animation on many GAINAX works such as "Neon Genesis Evangelion," a production that revolutionized the world of "anime" and created a social phenomenon, as well as "FLCL" and "Nadia: Secret of Blue Water." Also a renowned illustrator, Sadamoto is considered a breakthrough artist of this era.
"Let me just state that this has been a tremendous learning experience for me, to be able to make a departure from Gainax and to be given the opportunity to work purely on character design.
This was my first experience designing in 3D. The painstaking processes of implementing clothing details and providing texture patterns were the two key challenges I encountered. I'm an individual who finds online games to be fresh and stimulating, so I tried to convey these features within the designs. I'm eager to see how my designs will materialize in the 3D environment of the .hack PlayStation 2 game. I also look forward to how these designs may be manifested outside of the gaming realm. I hope you all will be able to share my enthusiasm for this project."
