Current News 毎読新聞オンライン化へ 発行部数の激減から経営危機が鳴かれていた毎 読新聞社が『オンライン新聞』への移行を正式に 発表した。 20世紀末には1000万部の発行部数を誇って いた同紙だが、ここ数年は低迷。公式発行部数 は126万部にまで落ちこんでいた。今回の決定 は同社にとっていわば背水の陣。オンライン新聞 として生き残りを図ることになる。 ネットワークの発達に伴い、新聞や雑誌などの印 刷メディアが衰退していくことは避けられない運命 という見方もあり、事実、大手出版社などもオンラ インマガジンの発行などに力を入れ始めている。 今回の決定により、毎読新聞がこれからの出版、 報道メディアのモデルケースとして注目されること は必至である。 なお、毎読新聞のオンライン化にはALTIMIT社及 びCC社が全面的に協力することも決定している。
