Current News ネット危機から早や五年 全世界を破滅寸前にまで追い込んだ未曽有のネ ットワーク危機『PlutoKiss(冥王のくちづけ)』事 件。今年の年末は事件発生からちょうど五周年に あたる。 世界ネットワークカウンシル(WNC)では事件の 教訓を永遠に忘れないためにさまざまな記念行 事を予定しているが、その一環として昨日、同議 長のアレックス・コールマン米大統領が『ネットワ ーク・レイオフデイ』構想を発表した。 ネットワークが現代社会にもたらしている恩恵に 感謝の念をもち、二度と愚かな行為が繰り返され ることのないよう願うため、商用、公用以外のネッ トワークを全面的にストップしよう、というのがそ の趣旨である。 『PlutoKiss』を忘れない、との理念には共感出 来るものの、ネットワークの利用停止がそれにど んな関係があるのかと疑問の声を上げる識者も 多く、レイオフデイが実現するかどうかは、まだ微 妙なところだといえる。
