Current News 無人コンビニ誕生 コンビニエンスストア大手のヘブンズゲイトは、完 全ネットワーク管理を語った無人店舗の一号店を 都内杉並区に試験開業させた。 同店舗では商品はすべてクローズドとなっており、 客は在庫状況が示された画像パネルで商品を選 択、携帯電話などの個人端末で同社サイトにアク セスして注文し、レジカウンターに設置されたボッ クスで商品を受け取る。代金決済は携帯電話キャ リアが代行して請求を行なうかたち。 現金が介在しないうえ、商品自体も陳列されない ため、コンビニ強盗などの犯罪が激減するものと 業界筋の注目を集めている。 在庫状況や店内の様子は24時間体制で監視さ れており、欠品は即時補充されるほか事故やトラ ブルが発生した場合には、契約している警備会社 が駆けつけ、警察へも通報される体制をとってい る。同社では一号店の稼動状況をみながら同種 の店舗を増やしていく方針で、将来的には全店舗 の30%を無人型にする予定だという。

Current News Unmanned Convenience Store Major convenience store chain, Heaven's Gate, became the first company to operate a store using full automation without any employees. At the experimental store in Suginami County, products are not displayed on store shelves. Customers use a web browser to select products and check on availability, then place their orders via cellular phone. Products are delivered to a device set up at the register counter for pickup, and customers are billed through their cellular phone service provider. Since there is no exchange of cash involved and products are not on display, the system is expected to help reduce convenience store burglaries, and the idea is gaining attention within the industry. Storage conditions and store interiors are under 24 hour surveillance and items are replenished according to need. Contracted officers rush to the scene when emergencies arise. After testing is completed, Heaven's Gate plans to eventually replace 30% of its manned stores with this automated system.
